Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen Protector Original SPF 50 Review
I’m back with another review, and today, I’m going to talk about the Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen Protector Original SPF 50. It was my daily SPF throughout August, and I’m ready to share my thoughts on this product.
Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen Protector Original combines chemical and mineral filters: Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid (also known as Ensulizole, which helps protect the skin against UVB rays), Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate (also known as Neo Heliopan AP, which protects the skin from UVA II rays), Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (also known as Tinosorb S, which covers the whole UVB and UVA range), Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (also known as Uvinul A Plus, which protects the skin against UVA rays), Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone (also known as Uvasorb HEB, which protects against UVB and UVA II rays), Ethylhexyl Triazone (also known as Uvinul T 150, which provides one of the highest levels of photo-stable absorption among UVB filters), and Titanium Dioxide (nano, which mainly protects the skin from UVA II rays).
The formula also contains antioxidants like ferulic acid, caffeic acid, vitamins C and E, polypodium extract, green tea extract, physalis angulata extract, plankton extract, arginine, and melanin to help protect the skin from environmental stressors. Additionally, it features a blend of glycerin, arginine, melanin, and phytosphingosine to soften and hydrate the skin.
The product has a nice fluid texture that doesn’t resemble a gel at all. It spreads easily on the skin, and while there’s a bit of tackiness after application, it disappears within a minute as it sets. It feels smooth and gives the skin a subtle glow. While it’s supposed to have a matte finish, it doesn’t fully completely matte. It sets quickly but leaves a natural glow without looking greasy.
Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen has a fruity smell. Although I like it, I found it’s quite strong.
Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen isn’t colourless; it gives my face a slight tint that remains invisible on the skin without leaving any grey, white, ashy, or yellow cast. It evens out my skin tone and gently hides imperfections, which I really like.
The thing I don’t like is that Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen Protector Original SPF 50 tends to pill if you handle it too much, or it can pill when reapplied.
My second issue with this sunscreen is that I can feel a slight layer on my skin throughout the day, making it less comfortable for me.
For reference my skin is combination and tends to break out during warmer weather and my period. This product doesn’t break me out, and it never irritates my skin or stings my eyes.
Overall, I’m happy that Lookfantastic is now stocking Heliocare. While the Heliocare 360° Oil-Free Gel Sunscreen Protector Original SPF 50 didn’t become my favourite SPF, I still think it’s a good product. Personally, I find the Heliocare 360° Water Gel SPF50+ to be better.
