Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter Review
In this review, I want to share my experience with the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter. It’s a new, rich body butter designed to deeply moisturise and calm the skin while replenishing its protective barrier. I’ve been loving the brand’s latest Beija Flor lineup of products, so I was really curious to try out this release. And here are my thoughts.
The formula features bacuri butter, which excels in moisturising and restoring the skin’s barrier through essential fatty and amino acids. It also contains the Brazilian Soothing Complex, a mix of copaiba resin and passionflower seed oil, aimed at calming stressed skin. Hyaluronic acid, included for lasting hydration, is complemented by prebiotic hibiscus to foster a healthy skin microbiome. Additionally, the formula is enriched with a blend of shea butter, coconut oil, cupuaçu butter, squalane, and other emollients, all working together to soften, condition, and replenish moisture.
This cream is super thick, making it quite a challenge to scoop out of the container. Its richness is notable, yet it surprisingly soaks in almost immediately and doesn’t leave that greasy feeling afterwards.
I enjoy using this cream, though it’s good for everyday moisturising but not a miracle worker. It may not be the ideal solution for excessively dry skin. However, after application, my skin does feel soft and smooth for hours.
Just like many of Sol de Janeiro’s products, this body butter has a strong scent. It has a sweet floral aroma, combining notes of sugared violet and vanilla, which I really enjoy. The scent is delightful and long-lasting on the skin. However, I’d recommend trying out the smaller size if you’re buying it blind.
Recently, there has been a debate on whether Sol de Janeiro’s butter attracts spiders. A Sephora customer claimed that after using the product, she started spotting spiders. This led to a discussion on Reddit where a user referenced a study suggesting that certain chemicals found in skincare products, like farnesyl acetate, diisobutyl phthalate, and hexadecyl acetate, can attract spiders. However, Sol de Janeiro refuted these claims. A brand representative stated, “While we cannot speak to the effect these aforementioned chemicals have on arachnids, we can confidently say that they are not present in any of our products.”
Personally, I’m happy with the purchase of the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter and find it quite pleasant to use. Not only does it smell lovely, but it also leaves my skin feeling moisturised. If you’re a fan of Sol de Janeiro’s products, this one is definitely worth a shot.
