Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camelia SPF50 Review
In today’s post, I want to discuss the Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camelia SPF50, another Korean sun stick I’ve put to the test. Let’s dive into the details and learn more about this product.
The formula contains Uvinul A Plus (which protects the skin against UVA rays), Tinosorb S (which covers the entire UVB and UVA range), Uvinul T 150 (which provides one of the highest levels of photo-stable absorption among UVB filters), and Parsol SLX (which helps protect the skin against UVB rays). It also contains a blend of emollients, texture enhancers, and boron nitride (a mattifying agent that reduces shine and oiliness on the skin).
It also contains a blend of panthenol, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, red algae extract, green gram extract, ivy gourd extract, aloe extract, bamboo extract, mugwort extract, and jojoba seed oil to moisturise and soften the skin. Additionally, a blend of turmeric root extract, neem extract, red algae extract, eggplant extract, green tea extract, noni extract, tulasi extract, moringa seed oil, camellia sinensis seed oil, and camellia japonica seed oil provides antioxidant protection. A blend of centella asiatica extract, mugwort extract, turmeric root extract, neem extract, and aloe extract soothes the skin.
The Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camellia SPF50 has an oval shape, making it easier to apply to most areas of the face. It is generally more convenient than the TOCOBO Cotton Soft Sun Stick, especially for application under the eyes. However, I still find it a bit challenging to reapply around the contours of my nose.
The sun stick goes on smoothly, leaving a natural matte finish with no white cast. Initially, it feels a bit waxy, but if you use it for reapplication and don’t apply many layers, it quickly sinks into the skin, quicker than the TOCOBO sun stick, without feeling greasy or sticky. It takes a little longer (about 15 minutes) to fully absorb into my oily T-zone, so I often put some powder on top. The Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camelia SPF50 is easy to apply over my makeup. It doesn’t irritate my skin, cause breakouts, or sting my eyes. Additionally, It has little to no scent, which is a plus for me.
I believe sunscreen sticks shouldn’t be used as a primary layer. They are great for reapplication because they come in a small, convenient stick format, making them perfect for on-the-go use and travel. However, they don’t work well as your only line of defence. Due to their texture and shape, they often provide less coverage and can miss spots on the face. I prefer to begin with a good layer of regular sunscreen and then use a sun stick to maintain protection throughout the day.
Many sun sticks have a waxy consistency that feels overly heavy on my combination skin, especially when applied in the required amount. The Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camelia SPF50 is no different. When layered, it leaves a too heavy and oily finish on my face. It doesn’t absorb fully, and my makeup doesn’t stay in place. Additionally, it tends to pill when applied in multiple layers.
In short, I find the Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Mugwort & Camelia to be a nice product that delivers on its promises. It works well for reapplication, and it’s convenient to use, which is pretty much what I expect from a good sun stick.

Thanks for the review! I like sun sticks, but I’m not sure how much you need to apply to get the full SPF. It seems like you’d have to use quite a bit.
