Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF30 Review
In today’s review, I decided to talk about Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF30. This is a tinted mineral sunscreen that blurs pores and provides a matte finish. Let’s get started and find out whether it’s worth the investment.
It contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as the active sunscreen ingredients, along with polymers (including silicon-based ones) to ensure even dispersion, providing uniform protection and a silky smooth feel. Additionally, it contains antioxidants like fermented bamboo and ginger lily extract to protect the skin from environmental stressors.
Supergoop! Mineral Mattescreen SPF30 has a very slight tint when applied, which helps a little with color correction while maintaining a natural look without leaving a white cast.
It has an almost whipped texture, akin to the benefit POREfessional Primer, and it works well to minimize the appearance of my pores. It goes on smoothly, dries to a completely matte finish, and controls shine and grease all day. Also, Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF30 doesn’t cause pilling and never stings my eyes.
It’s important to note that if you rely on it as your sole form of SPF, you can’t skimp on the application to ensure adequate protection.
It wears well over skincare and under makeup, without being oily, heavy, or too matte. However, keep in mind that it will also mattify any foundation applied on top. This is ideal for no makeup days for me.
It’s worth noting that Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF30 (40 in the US) effectively protects my skin and doesn’t melt off in the heat. However, the only drawback is its relatively low SPF level, I wish it was SPF 50, as I prefer using SPF 50 whenever possible. This is a non-negotiable for me during the summertime, so I consider this more suitable for spring and autumn.
For reference, my skin is combination and thin, with a tendency to break out during warmer weather and my period. This product doesn’t cause breakouts or irritate my skin. In my opinion, the Mattescreen formula works well for those with oily or combination skin, but it might not be the best option for dry skin.
All in all, I believe that Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF30 is a definitely worth trying product. It lives up to its name and has a decent mattifying effect. Although an SPF50 would have been even better, it’s still a great choice.
