Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF30 Review

Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF30 Review

This time, I’m bringing you a review of the Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF30. Let’s dive into its performance and see whether it’s worth trying.

Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF30

The formula contains a blend of octocrylene (which protects the skin against UVB rays and some UVA II rays and stabilises avobenzone), butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (also known as avobenzone, which protects against UVA rays), and titanium dioxide (nano, which mainly protects the skin from UVB and some UVA II rays).

It has a silicone-based foundation to create a smooth, film-forming layer, while a blend of emollients and humectants (including glycerin, seaweed complex, and hyaluronic acid) helps soften the skin and reduce moisture loss. The formula also contains alcohol (listed high up in the ingredient list), which should give a lighter feel, help the product dry faster, and support the formation of an even protective layer.

Additionally, it contains a blend of green tea extract, strawberry saxifrage extract, safflower flower extract, sophora angustifolia extract, rose apple extract, a seaweed complex, and vitamin E, which provide antioxidant protection, while dipotassium glycyrrhizate and green tea extract soothe the skin.

The Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF 30 has quite a thick texture, which makes it a bit difficult to spread. It does leave a slight white cast at first, which fades over time. The scent is floral and noticeable, but not overpowering. Personally, I don’t find it pleasant, but it fades away fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, on my combination skin, it just feels too greasy and heavy when applied properly. I can only use a very small amount, which is less than the ½ teaspoon recommended for full SPF protection. It doesn’t break me out and doesn’t irritate my skin. I think it may work better for drier skin types. But if you’re oily, this may not be the best option. I do like that it’s water and heat-resistant, which makes it a good option for holidays. However, when I’m on holiday, I still prefer to reach for an SPF 50.

All in all, the Shiseido Expert Sun Protector Cream SPF30 is a miss for me, especially with so many sunscreens out there that suit my skin better.
