Medik8 r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum Review
This time, I want to take a closer look at the Medik8 r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum, a product I’ve been testing for the over 4 months. I’m ready to reveal my thoughts and how it’s been working for me.
The formula contains encapsulated retinyl retinoate, which gets to work quickly as it only requires one conversion to become retinoic acid. This form of retinoid is less sensitising than retinoic acid and retinol. Additionally, it’s more stable and doesn’t lose its potency in sunlight. The product also contains 7% stabilised vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate) to brighten and firm the skin. It also includes hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and emollients to help minimise dryness and keep the skin soft.
Medik8 r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum has a lightweight, velvety texture that sinks into the skin quickly without leaving any sticky or greasy residue. I haven’t experienced any irritation, redness, or other adverse reactions while using it. Additionally, a little goes a long way, as only two pumps are needed, meaning this will last for ages.
The product has almost no scent, just a barely noticeable vanilla aroma (from vanilla fruit extract) that fades quickly, so it’s not an issue for me.
I can use the Medik8 r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum all over my face and neck with absolutely no irritation. I use it once a day (PM) as it seems to work best for my skin. However, I should mention that the product is designed to be used both day and night, so you can apply it in the morning as well, although I haven’t tried this myself (I prefer different serums in my morning routine). You should always use sunscreen the morning after applying retinoids (whether used in a daytime or nighttime routine).
I’m able to use this treatment every night with no sensitivity, redness, or dryness, but I use it every other night as it seems to fit better into my routine. Medik8 also recommends applying a moisturiser over the r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum. However, for my combination skin, there’s no need to add an extra layer of moisturising cream, as the product doesn’t dry out my skin.
This treatment makes my skin noticeably smoother, and my skin tone appears more even. Over time, it has reduced my small and medium-sized fine lines. It also makes my skin firmer and brighter, with a slight healthy glow. I’ve been using it for 4 months and am still seeing improvements. I love how my skin looks—it’s definitely younger-looking.
Overall, I enjoy using the Medik8 r-Retinoate Day and Night Serum, and I absolutely love the results. The product delivers on its promises, and the only downside is the high price tag. Because of that, I’d only consider repurchasing if it’s on sale. That said, it’s definitely worth a try if you get the chance.

Great review, as always! I’ve got this product too, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m hoping this works for my super sensitive skin.
