Allies of Skin THE ONE SPF 50 Invisible Sunscreen Gel Review
This time, I’d like to discuss the Allies of Skin THE ONE SPF 50 Invisible Sunscreen Gel. I’m always up for trying new SPFs, so when Allies of Skin announced this one, I knew I couldn’t resist trying it. Now, after putting it to the test, I’m ready to share my thoughts.
The formula contains octocrylene (which protects the skin against UVB rays and some UVA II rays), homosalate (which protects the skin against UVB rays), ethylhexyl salicylate (also known as octisalate, which protects against UVB rays), butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (also known as avobenzone, which protects the skin against UVA rays), and butyloctyl salicylate to stabilise avobenzone and enhance water resistance. Isododecane and dimethicone make up the bulk of the formula. Isododecane, a volatile hydrocarbon that’s compatible with silicones, helps the product spread easily. Dimethicone, a silicone, gives the skin a smooth appearance and helps distribute the active ingredients evenly across the skin.
It also contains a blend of green tea extract, watermelon extract, carrot extract, liquorice extract, pomegranate extract, niacinamide, raspberry oil, and vitamins C and E, which provide antioxidant protection. Aloe barbadensis leaf extract, watermelon extract, liquorice extract, pomegranate extract, and niacinamide help to soothe, calm, and soften the skin.
The Allies of Skin THE ONE SPF 50 has a transparent, gel-like texture that spreads easily, leaving no white cast or shine. It feels sticky after applying and reminds me more of a primer rather than SPF product. True to its claim, this sunscreen is completely invisible on the skin. It’s also water-resistant, making it a good option for both beach days and sweaty activities like workouts or hikes. Unfortunately, it tends to pill, and my makeup doesn’t stay put well over it.
The texture really doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t absorb at all and just sits on top of my skin. No matter how long I wait, there’s always a noticeable layer that transfers whenever I touch my face. I can only use a tiny amount, far less than the recommended ½ teaspoon, because applying the proper amount for SPF 50 protection feels like wearing a layer of silicone that never sinks in. This always happens, regardless of which products I layer underneath.
For reference, I have combination skin that tends to break out during warmer months and around my period. This product doesn’t cause any breakouts, and it never irritates my skin or stings my eyes.
As much as I wanted to love the Allies of Skin THE ONE SPF 50, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. Considering there are so many other alternatives on the market that do their job better and have a lower price tag, I doubt I’ll repurchase this product.

Hi Mary! That’s a real bummer to read. I haven’t tried their ONE SPF, but I really like their peptide serum and mandelic acid night serum.
