ZIIP HALO Nanocurrent and Microcurrent Facial Toning Device Review
Today, I’m reviewing the ZIIP HALO Nanocurrent and Microcurrent Facial Toning Device. I’ve been using it for a few months now, so I’m ready to share my experience and talk a bit more about the device.

The ZIIP HALO device uses Dual Waveform Technology, which combines microcurrent (up to 400 microamps) and nanocurrent (900 nanoamps) waveforms to stimulate both the skin and muscles, increasing firmness and reducing signs of ageing.
- Microcurrent is a low-voltage electrical current that stimulates facial muscles to contract and relax, creating an immediate lifting effect and reducing puffiness. Over time, it helps soften the appearance of fine lines, contour the face, and reduce inflammation.
- Nanocurrent is a much lower electrical current that claims to increase blood circulation, promote skin cell regeneration, and accelerate wound healing.

ZIIP HALO isn’t the first microcurrent device I’ve tried, but it’s the most compact so far. It looks and feels similar to an Apple computer mouse, just smaller and lighter in the hand. Charging is very straightforward, and I only need to recharge it once every couple of weeks. A flashing red light indicates when the battery is running low, which is helpful.
What I don’t love about ZIIP HALO is that the intensity levels can’t be adjusted manually. The device clearly prioritises simplicity: you turn it on, follow the selected treatment, and that’s it. Still, there’s something satisfying about that simplicity.

I’ve been using the ZIIP HALO three to four times a week, and I’ve definitely noticed a difference. My facial contours look firmer and more defined, my cheekbones look more sculpted, my brows look more lifted, and my jawline looks sharper. After the first month of regular use, the lines on my forehead became less noticeable. It also helps to reduce puffiness, so I love doing a quick session in the morning. That said, it’s important to remember that no at-home device can resolve serious issues. It’s also important to keep realistic expectations and stay consistent to see results.

Here are some important safety precautions to keep in mind when using ZIIP HALO:
- Do not use the device on areas of skin that are raised, bleeding, painful to the touch, broken, or excessively red.
- The brand recommends waiting at least 10 days after injectable or laser treatments before using ZIIP.
- Avoid using the device if you have a cardiac pacemaker, an implanted defibrillator or stimulator, or any other implanted electronic device.
- Microcurrent devices should not be used if you have certain medical conditions, including epilepsy, haemorrhagic disorders, cancer, tumours, or perceptual disturbances.
- It’s best to avoid using ZIIP on areas with facial hair, as hair can block the electrical currents. The brand recommends using ZIIP on a clean-shaven face. If you have a beard or moustache, you can adjust treatments to avoid those areas or use the Eyes targeted treatment, which excludes the lower face and jawline.
- ZIIP can be used with metal piercings or implants, but the area around the piercing should be avoided as much as possible.
- Avoid using microcurrent devices on the front of the neck, directly over the thyroid.
- The brand also advises that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use ZIIP.

ZIIP HALO is compatible with the free ZIIP app. Once you connect it, the app guides you through 17 different treatments and 7 different plans designed to target specific areas of the face. You can choose from full-face treatments as well as more targeted options for the eyes, brows, neck, lips, and more. This allows you to personalise your experience and focus on specific concerns whenever you need to. Additionally, you can filter treatments by skin concern: anti-ageing, skin health, skin prep, or problem skin.
Each treatment lasts between 2 and 12 minutes, making it easy to fit into your daily routine. The app guides you through every treatment with a video, where Melanie Simon shows you exactly what to do. You can also combine different treatments to address multiple skin concerns.

Treatment list (regularly updated):
- Tone Corrector is made to help even out skin tone and bring back some radiance. It’s a good option when skin looks dull or uneven.
- Instant Face Lift is a stronger lifting treatment that focuses on sagging and loss of firmness. It’s the one I’d pick before an event.
- The Everything Facial is a full face treatment that combines several waveforms. It’s designed to give more noticeable overall results.
- Skin Barrier Repair is all about calming the skin and supporting the barrier. It’s useful when skin feels stressed, reactive, or overworked.
- The 4 Minute Facial is a quick option for an instant contouring effect. It’s ideal when you’re short on time but still want visible definition.
- Lymphatic Drainage helps reduce puffiness and fluid retention. It works well for both the face and the neck.
- Clear Skin focuses on congestion and breakouts. It’s designed to calm active spots and support clearer looking skin.
- Collagen Boost is a glow focused treatment that supports firmness and smoother looking skin over time.
- Eyes targets fine lines and dullness around the eye area. It helps the eyes look brighter and more awake.
- Pimples is a targeted treatment for a single spot. It helps calm redness and speed up recovery.
- Plump focuses on restoring softness and fullness. Skin looks more cushioned and hydrated after use.
- Sun Damage targets uneven tone and signs of sun exposure. It helps skin look clearer and more even.
- Jowls works on the lower face to define the jawline and reduce heaviness.
- Sculpt is designed to enhance facial contours and definition. It works well on the cheeks and jawline.
- Neck focuses on improving firmness in the neck area and smoothing the look of lines.
- Heal is a calming treatment for redness or post breakout marks. It’s a good choice on recovery days.
- Lips focuses on softening lip lines and improving fullness around the mouth.

You need to use a gel with ZIIP HALO to help the microcurrent conduct properly. Gels allow the current to travel evenly from the device into the skin, creating a smooth glide and making the experience more comfortable. Using a conductive gel also helps prevent irritation and any unpleasant or painful sensations. You can use aloe vera gel, ultrasound gel, hyaluronic acid gel, any facial gel, or a dedicated conductive gel.
To be honest, I’ve been a fan of ZIIP gels for a long time, even before trying ZIIP HALO. My current favourite is the ZIIP Beauty Crystal Gel. It’s easy to apply and has a lightweight texture that gives good hydration. It doesn’t dry out too quickly and glides smoothly over the skin. The texture feels silky rather than sticky, with a slight wetness that helps it spread evenly. It has enough viscosity to stay in place without being messy, and I’ve never found it to dry down too fast during a treatment, which can be a common issue with similar gels. It also doesn’t cause breakouts on my combination skin.

The formula contains a blend of glycerin and a mineral complex to hydrate the skin, while black spruce bark extract and veronica officinalis extract help calm and soothe the skin. Additionally, the mineral complex (magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate, and copper gluconate) and glutathione provide antioxidant protection.

Overall, the ZIIP HALO is a nice device that’s comfortable to use and easy to fit into a routine. Like any microcurrent device, consistency is key, so it’s only worth the investment if you plan to use it regularly.
