Zelens Power D Fortifying and Restoring Serum Review
Today, I’m bringing you a review of the Zelens Power D Fortifying and Restoring Serum, which is a part of the Powers Alphabet range. I’ve been using this serum for about seven or eight years, starting when it was called the Power D Treatment Drops. I’ve repurchased it multiple times over the years, and it’s still one of those products I trust and always come back to.
The formula contains a blend of emollients and barrier supporting lipids including squalane, meadowfoam seed oil, linseed oil, avocado oil, soybean oil, and sunflower seed oil to help reduce moisture loss and support barrier function. Additionally, a blend of vitamin D (7-dehydrocholesterol), vitamin F (linoleic acid and linolenic acid), phospholipids, glycolipids, soybean sterols, rapeseed sterols, cetylhydroxyproline palmitamide, and plant fatty acids (oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid) helps improve skin smoothness and elasticity, strengthen the barrier, and reinforce the lipid matrix.
It also features a proprietary botanical blend of six plant extracts rich in vitamin D (reishi, lichen, white mushroom, shiitake, and plankton), which shows fortifying and restoring properties, while bisabolol and yeast extract help soothe and calm the skin. Amino acids (hydroxyproline, glycine, and proline) support collagen production, promote skin repair, and improve moisture retention, while hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin.
The Zelens Power D Fortifying and Restoring Serum has a dry oil texture. It feels much lighter than a regular face oil and absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy residue. I’ve never experienced any breakouts while using it. The serum doesn’t contain any fragrance, so it smells a bit funny, but the scent fades away fast and doesn’t bother me.
This concentrate is a true lifesaver for my skin whenever it feels a bit worse for wear. It works really well for my combination skin, leaving it feeling calmer while adding a lovely glow. Winter, central heating and AHA acids are the main triggers that tend to make my skin sensitive and compromise its barrier. This product calms my skin within just a couple of days and soothes sensitised skin like no other product I’ve tried.
The Zelens Power D can be used both in the morning and in a nighttime routine, depending on your skin type, as well as the weather and climate. For dry skin types, it could work well year-round, both day and night. However, for my combination skin, it feels too much during the hot summer months, and it isn’t very comfortable to use in the morning. Therefore, I use it in my nighttime routine, either as a first step or mixed in with my hyaluronic serum. In the colder months, I sometimes add a couple of drops to my moisturiser.
Overall, I love everything about the Zelens Power D Fortifying and Restoring Serum except for the price. Luckily, LF offers good discounts on this serum from time to time.
