VIOLETTE_FR Review
Today I’m reviewing a few products from VIOLETTE_FR, founded by Violette Serrat, an award-winning French makeup artist and Guerlain’s creative director of makeup. I want to share my thoughts on the Plume Blush, the Yeux Paint, the Plume Eyeshadow, and the Lip Nectar.
VIOLETTE_FR Plume Blush in Rose Fumé
The VIOLETTE_FR Plume Blush in Rose Fumé is a cream-to-powder formula in a soft, neutral smoked rose shade. It blends easily and glides smoothly like a cream blush, but sets to a soft, blurred finish like a powder. It feels very comfortable and lightweight to wear. It also has a cocoa scent that is pleasant and not overpowering.
The formula is not overly pigmented, but it’s definitely buildable and easy to work with. You can go from a soft-focus flush to a bold, vibrant pop of colour without any harsh lines or patchiness. I love the natural-looking flush it gives my skin without highlighting my pores or emphasising my skin texture. It also lasts quite well, especially with setting powder or setting spray.

VIOLETTE_FR Lip Nectar
The VIOLETTE_FR Lip Nectar (in Amarante Noire, Bêtise, and Rose de Moab) is a hydrating, buildable lip stain. It comes with a lovely plush applicator that makes it perfect for reapplying on the go. It looks shiny at first, then fades beautifully into a soft, sheer wash of colour that lasts for several hours. What I like most is how comfortable and hydrating it feels on the lips. It also never feels sticky, and it wears well throughout the day without leaving my lips looking dry or cracked.
- Bêtise is a rich, indulgent, warm berry shade that gives the lips that just-bitten look.
- Rose de Moab is a soft, earthy nude shade with caramel and latte undertones that make the lips look polished rather than pale and washed out.
- Amarante Noire is a rich, dramatic berry shade that leaves a gorgeous stain on the lips.

VIOLETTE_FR Plume Eyeshadow in Poussière de Lune
The VIOLETTE_FR Plume Eyeshadow in Poussière de Lune is a sheer cream-to-powder eyeshadow in a cool moonlit graphite shade. Personally, I really love this formula. It’s easy to blend and works well with products from other brands. It goes on smoothly without crumbling or pilling, layers beautifully, lasts all day without creasing, and has very little fallout.
It’s not the most pigmented eyeshadow, but that’s exactly what I like about it. The colour is easy to build, so you can create anything from a soft wash to a more defined look without it ever feeling heavy. One of my favourite things about this formula is how smooth it looks on the lids. It never emphasises dryness or looks patchy. I’d love to see more shades released, or even an eyeshadow palette in this formula.

VIOLETTE_FR Yeux Paint in Tout Doux
The VIOLETTE_FR Yeux Paint in Tout Doux is a richly pigmented liquid eyeshadow in a neutral beige shade with a matte finish. The formula delivers intense colour payoff and lasts exceptionally well with or without an eyeshadow primer. For me, it’s a must have for all day wear because the staying power is incredible, even in hot summer weather. I’d definitely recommend it if you are looking for an eyeshadow or eyeliner that really stays put.
The texture is quite thick, but it doesn’t feel heavy on the lids at all. A little goes a long way, so I usually dab a small amount onto the back of my hand before applying it to my eyelids and blending it up to the crease. You do need to work fairly quickly before it sets. I usually finish by using a powder highlighter to soften and diffuse the edges. Just FYI, if you want to use this as an eyeliner, you’ll need to use an additional tool. The doe foot applicator makes it difficult to create a precise wing.
