Susanne Kaufmann Ectoin Barrier Repair Moisturiser SPF 50 Review

Susanne Kaufmann Ectoin Barrier Repair Moisturiser SPF 50

Today I’m talking about the Susanne Kaufmann Ectoin Barrier Repair Moisturiser SPF 50. It’s a daily moisturiser designed to protect the skin barrier while providing broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection.

The formula contains diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (also known as Uvinul A Plus, which protects the skin against UVA rays), bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (also known as Tinosorb S, which covers the full UVB and UVA range), ethylhexyl salicylate (also known as octisalate, which protects against UVB rays), ethylhexyl triazone (also known as Uvinul T 150, which provides one of the highest levels of photostable absorption among UVB filters), and phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid (also known as Ensulizole, which helps protect the skin against UVB rays) to provide broad-spectrum protection with strong photostability.

A blend of emollients and humectants, including ectoin, glycerin and algae extract, softens the skin and reduces moisture loss. Additionally, ectoin, alpine rose extract, edelweiss extract, golden seaweed extract, yellow gentian root extract and vitamin E provide antioxidant protection.

The Susanne Kaufmann Ectoin Barrier Repair Moisturiser SPF 50 has a silky, creamy texture that glides on smoothly. It feels rich but lightweight. The finish is natural, not too matte or too dewy. It works well on my combination skin and hasn’t clogged my pores or caused any irritation. Additionally, it has a subtle floral scent.

It leaves a nice layer on the skin that feels really moisturising. However, for my combination skin, applying the recommended ½ teaspoon for proper SPF coverage feels a bit too rich. So, I believe it would be a great option for those with normal to dry skin. My husband, who has dry skin, tried it as well and really liked the formula. He mentioned that it felt comfortable and absorbed within a couple of minutes. But if you have combination or oily skin, it may feel a bit heavy, especially during warmer months.

To sum it up, the Susanne Kaufmann Ectoin Barrier Repair Moisturiser SPF 50 is a really nice product, but it’s definitely more suited to drier skin types.
