Sunday Riley Breakout Breakup Purifying Salicylic Acid Cleanser Review
This time, I’m reviewing the Sunday Riley Breakout Breakup Purifying Cleanser, a salicylic acid face wash designed to unclog pores, reduce congestion, and exfoliate the skin.
The formula contains a blend of mild surfactants that effectively remove dirt, excess oil, sunscreen, and light makeup without drying the skin, as well as humectants and skin-conditioning ingredients, including glycerin, xylitylglucoside, and lactobacillus ferment, to help soften the skin and prevent dryness. The cleanser is formulated with salicylic acid (BHA) to dissolve excess oil, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and control sebum, while capryloyl glycine helps regulate excess sebum and improve the appearance of blemish-prone skin.
Additionally, fermented pear juice (rich in lactic acid) gently exfoliates to smooth skin texture and brighten the complexion. A blend of apple extract, pear extract, raspberry extract, and banana extract provides antioxidant protection, while lactobacillus ferment, witch hazel leaf extract, and lavender flower water help soothe the skin.
The Sunday Riley Breakout Breakup Purifying Salicylic Acid Cleanser has a gel texture that lathers into a gentle foam and rinses off easily. I used it once a day, and it left my skin feeling clean without drying it out or making it feel tight or stripped. It’s also fragrance-free. My only minor issue is that the formula is quite watery, so it’s easy to squeeze out too much product. I think a pump would work better.
I have combination skin and tend to break out more in warmer weather and around my period. While using this cleanser, I noticed fewer clogged pores, and my skin felt calmer overall. My T-zone was less oily, and my complexion looked clearer and more even. I find it effective yet gentle enough for daily use.
All in all, the Sunday Riley Breakout Breakup Purifying Salicylic Acid Cleanser is a lovely product that I’ve enjoyed using. It works well as part of a daily skincare routine, especially for those with blemish-prone or oily skin.
