Merit Beauty Review

Merit Beauty Review

Hi everyone! Today I’m reviewing five products from Merit makeup products, including the Signature Lip Blush, the Signature Satin Lipstick, Signature Lip Liner, the Flush Balm, and the Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick.

Merit Signature Lip Blush and Signature Satin Lipstick

Merit Signature Lip Blush

I picked up two lipsticks from Merit. One is the Signature Lip Blush in Bespoke, featuring a sheer matte finish. The other is the Signature Satin Lipstick in Millennial, which has a satin formula.

The Merit Signature Lip Blush in Bespoke is a sheer matte lipstick in a rose brown shade. The formula is buttery smooth, comfortable to wear, and never feels dry on the lips. I’d say it feels more like a hydrating lip balm than a lipstick. It gives a soft wash of colour with one coat, but you can easily build it up for a deeper look. I’m really happy with this shade. On my lips, it leans towards brown, which is exactly what I was looking for. Overall, I really liked this lipstick, and it definitely makes me want to try more shades from the range.

Merit Signature Satin Lipstick

The MERIT Signature Satin Lipstick in Millennial is a sheer satin lipstick in a classic pink shade. The Signature Lipstick comes in both matte and satin formulas, and I decided to try the satin one first. The formula feels more buttery than silky, which I actually prefer, as it seems to grip the lips a little better. It feels really comfortable to wear and isn’t drying at all. I like that it’s not too shiny and not overly pigmented for a natural look. However, the lasting power could be better.

MERIT BEAUTY Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner

MERIT BEAUTY Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner

The MERIT BEAUTY Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner in Bespoke is a non-drying, buildable lip pencil in a pink brown shade. It has a sheer, balmy formula that glides on smoothly without tugging or crumbling. Surprisingly, it has a slightly dewy finish, which I didn’t expect from a lip liner. It feels hydrating, yet lightweight, and comfortable on the lips. This lip liner works well for defining the lips while still looking natural. I get about two hours of wear before it starts to fade if I’m not eating or drinking. The good thing is that it fades evenly and still looks nice on my lips. I really enjoy wearing this lip liner. It looks beautiful both on its own and under lipstick.

MERIT BEAUTY The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick

MERIT BEAUTY The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick

The Merit Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick is a 2-in-1 foundation and concealer hybrid. I have it in two shades: Ceramic, a very fair, cool-toned shade, and Dune, a fair-to-light, cool-toned shade.

The formula is more on the matte side. I have combination skin, and this one only works for me when I prep my skin properly. If I skip a gripping or hydrating primer, like the Laura Mercier one, it settles into every crease, and I can never quite make it work. With the right prep, though, it looks beautiful. It blends seamlessly into the skin and layers really well with the rest of my makeup.

While it claims to offer full, buildable coverage, I find it’s more light to medium. That said, I really like it for touch-ups, and it works well for covering redness and blemishes. I like the concept of this product, especially for quick touch-ups, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase it.

MERIT BEAUTY Flush Balm Cream Blush

MERIT BEAUTY Flush Balm Cream Blush

The MERIT Flush Balm Cream Blush in Beverly Hills is a cream blush in a soft peachy pink shade. The formula feels lightweight and smooth on the skin. I like applying it with a brush, but it blends effortlessly with my fingers too. The Beverly Hills shade is absolutely beautiful and gives my cheeks a fresh, natural-looking glow. It adds just enough pigment without being overpowering, and it’s buildable as well, so it works great for either a bold or subtle look. I’d say this blush doesn’t have great staying power and lasts only a few hours on me, but using setting powder or spray helps prolong its wear.
