LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50 Review

My next sunscreen review is here, and this time, I’d like to talk about the LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50. Let’s take a look at this product and see whether it has lived up to my expectations.

LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50

The formula contains octocrylene (which protects the skin against UVB rays and some UVA II rays), homosalate (which protects the skin against UVB rays), ethylhexyl salicylate (also known as octisalate, which protects against UVB rays), butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (also known as Avobenzone, which protects the skin against UVA rays), and butyloctyl salicylate to stabilise avobenzone and enhance water resistance.

It also contains a blend of glycerin, hydro-ionized mineral water, lavender water, aloe leaf extract, and quinoa extract to hydrate the skin. Broccoli extract, centella Asiatica extract, and vitamin C (ascorbyl glucoside) provide antioxidant protection, while centella Asiatica extract and aloe leaf extract soothe the skin.

LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF50 Review

The LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50 has a very smooth and creamy texture. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and leaves no white cast at all. However, it doesn’t absorb quickly on my skin and feels a bit “sitting” on the skin.

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and honestly, it feels a bit too hydrating for my combination skin in the summer. It leaves my skin feeling a bit greasy for most of the day. I believe you’ll love it if you have dry to combo skin, but if you’re oily, you might want to look for more matte sunscreen.

LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF50

The LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF50 has a slightly glowy finish, which can look a bit too shiny on my combination skin. I usually apply a mattifying powder on my T-zone to take down the shine.

For reference, my combination skin tends to break out during warmer months and around my period. The LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50 doesn’t break me out, irritate my skin, or sting my eyes.

LANEIGE sunscreen Review

Unfortunately, despite my love for some of the brand’s products, the LANEIGE Hydro UV Defence EX SPF 50 hasn’t become a favourite of mine. I wouldn’t repurchase it, but I can see how it might work better for others, especially those with drier skin.

Same. I’m already oily, and it makes my skin look greasy all day. I ended up giving it to my mum, and she actually likes it.

Hi Mary! Thanks for your review! I got this sunscreen too, and it feels a bit heavy for summer, but should be great in winter 🙂
