Huxley Watery Sun Cream Stay Sun Safe Review
Here’s my brief review of the Huxley Secret of Sahara Watery Sun Cream Stay Sun Safe SPF50+ PA++++, another K-Beauty sunscreen I’ve had the chance to try.
The formula contains ethylhexyl triazone (also known as Uvinul T 150, which provides one of the highest levels of photostable UVB protection available), diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (also known as Uvinul A Plus, which protects against UVA rays), drometrizole trisiloxane (also known as Mexoryl XL, which provides both UVA and UVB protection), methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (Tinosorb M, a broad-spectrum UVA and UVB filter), and bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (also known as Tinosorb S, which provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection). Additionally, it contains butyloctyl salicylate (which can help boost the SPF performance of sunscreens), diethylhexyl 2,6-naphthalate (which acts as a photostabiliser and solvent in sunscreen formulations), and Polyurethane-15 (often included in sunscreens for its film-forming, water-resistant, and stabilising properties).
Also, a blend of humectants, including glycerin, and panthenol, helps hydrate the skin. Ceramide NP, phytosphingosine, hydrogenated lecithin, panthenol, niacinamide, and prickly pear seed oil help support barrier function and reduce moisture loss. A blend of adenosine, panthenol, Houttuynia cordata extract, myrothamnus flabellifolia leaf extract, and opuntia ficus-indica flower extract helps soothe the skin. Additionally, niacinamide, Houttuynia cordata extract, myrothamnus flabellifolia leaf extract, opuntia ficus-indica flower extract, opuntia ficus-indica seed oil, and vitamin E provide antioxidant protection.
The Huxley Secret of Sahara Watery Sun Cream Stay Sun Safe SPF50+ PA++++ has a lightweight, lotion-like texture. It doesn’t feel greasy on the skin and leaves no white cast. This sunscreen feels a bit sticky right after application, but dries down within minutes, leaving my skin with a healthy, natural-looking finish. It works really well under makeup and never pills. Scent-wise, it has Huxley’s classic botanical fragrance, which I honestly don’t like and find a bit cheap-smelling. Thankfully, it fades quickly, so it isn’t an issue for me.
I have combination skin that’s prone to breakouts during the summer and around my period. This sunscreen never made me break out. It didn’t cause any irritation and never stung my eyes. It feels hydrating, but for my skin type, it can be a bit too much on hot days or at the beach. That said, it works really well for me for the rest of the year. I’d probably skip this one if you have oily skin, but I genuinely believe it’s a good option for normal to dry skin year-round.
Overall, the Huxley Secret of Sahara Watery Sun Cream Stay Sun Safe SPF50+ PA++++ gets an A from me. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try, especially for those with drier skin types. I also like that it comes in a 70ml tube, so I think this is great value for money.
