Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 Review
Here is my latest review of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm Sunscreen Stick SPF 30, a sun stick that protects against UVA/UVB rays while leaving the skin with an instant glow. Let’s take a closer look at this product to see if it’s worth trying.
The formula contains butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (also known as avobenzone, which protects the skin against UVA rays), homosalate (which protects the skin against UVB rays), and ethylhexyl salicylate (also known as octisalate, which protects against UVB rays). It also includes a blend of emollients, such as squalane, watermelon seed oil, and meadowfoam seed oil, to soften and moisturise the skin. Additionally, a blend of niacinamide, watermelon seed oil, sea fennel extract, and vitamins C and E provides antioxidant protection, while hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 has a very smooth texture, making it easy to apply. It doesn’t pill or leave a white cast, remaining completely invisible on the skin. The product has a brand’s signature watermelon scent, which is subtle and fades away quickly.
Additionally, the shape of the stick makes it comfortable to apply around the eyes, lips, and the contours of the nose. Also, It doesn’t sting my eyes like some other sun sticks.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 feels slippery on my skin and takes time to absorb, so it doesn’t work well under makeup for me. Therefore, I prefer to use it on days when I wear minimal makeup.
The product gives my skin a dewy glow without feeling greasy. However, while it may look nice on specific areas like the cheekbones or forehead, it can appear overly shiny when applied all over the face. So, I might use some powder to tone down the shine.
The sun stick works well for reapplication sunscreen but not as a replacement for it. I prefer starting with a good layer of regular sunscreen and then using sun sticks to maintain protection throughout the day. Most sun sticks feel too heavy on my combination skin when applied in the proper amount.
After several layers, the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 doesn’t feel nice on the skin. It feels too sticky and doesn’t fully absorb.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 feels very hydrating on the skin. I would say that for my combination skin, it’s more suitable for the colder months. In summer, it felt a bit greasy. I would recommend it for dry and normal skin. Additionally, this product didn’t cause any breakouts or irritation to my skin.
The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm Sunscreen Stick SPF 30 (45 in the US) has pros and cons, but it didn’t become my go-to SPF product. Also, I prefer using SPF 50 whenever possible, so I wouldn’t consider using it during the summer months. However, I’ll share my thoughts on other sunscreen sticks I’ve tried soon.
WHERE TO SHOP:
Thanks for this, Mary! I’m not a fan of sunsticks, but I do love the brand, so I was excited to get this, and I actually like it quite a lot. Great sunscreen with an easy application. It gives me a nice dewy finish, and it applies clear so there is no white cast.
